PLUS+1 SERVICE TOOL FOR CAT 171120 (P1STC)

Plus+1 Service Tool for CAT version 171120 and Plus+1 Service Tool 9.1 along with any necessary drivers will be installed with this executable file. 

Plus+1 Service Tool for CAT (P1STC) requires Plus+1 Service Tool 9.1 to function. DO NOT open the Plus+1 Service Tool 9.1 for machine service. 

P1STC is used to perform diagnostic troubleshooting, configuration settings, calibration, and software flash procedures for certain Caterpillar Paving Products.

P1STC requires the latest licensed version of CATERPILLAR ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN (CAT ET) installed, before it can be used. P1STC uses the CAT ET license, no other licenses are required. 

Version (171120) is compatible for Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 operating systems. 

When using the Communication Adapter 3, be sure to have the latest firmware and apply the best practices. Cat Communication Adapter Best Practices can be obtained at the following link.

* The CPU should be intended for at least laptop use. Processors designed for netbooks, tablets or similar are not recommended.
** Version 9.1 of GUIDE and Service Tool is compatible with Windows 7 (32/64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit) and Windows 10 (64-bit).

– The user must exit the Service Tool to install/uninstall other Service Tool versions. Recommendation: Close all open programs before installing the tool.

– Manual uninstallation of the CG150 gateway from the Windows Device Manager may be needed when upgrading PLUS+1 drivers on Windows 7 32 and 64-bit.

– When updating to the latest driver package, it is in some cases necessary to manually enable the drivers in the Windows Device Manager. The devices should appear under the “Danfoss” node in the Device Manager tree structure. If the driver is marked as disabled, then right click it and select enable from the context menu. If the devices appear under the “Sauer-Danfoss” node in the Device Manager tree structure, then the old driver was not completely uninstalled, and then the Update menu item should be selected instead. In some cases when the devices appear under the “Sauer-Danfoss” node in the Device manager, it is necessary to first use the Uninstall menu item, and then re-install the driver package.



Installation and Use

Refer to Special Instruction REHS7696 “Software Installation Instructions of the Plus+1 Service Tool for Caterpillar (P1STC) Is Available for Caterpillar Paving Products”, for installation and brief operating instructions.

The P1STC will automatically start when selecting a machine or display controller within Cat ET while connected with the Communication Adapter 3 cables.

When using P1STC a machine specific diagnostic file must be selected before all menus and options can be used. The P1STC contains all the necessary diagnostic files for certain Paving Products. The diagnostic files have an extension of "P1D". The P1D diagnostic files will be installed to the "C:\PLUS+1\CAT Diagnostic Files" folder. Follow the on screen instructions in order to communicate between the machine and P1STC.

The Communication Adaptor 3 can be used although the CG150 communications cables are recommended. The CG150 communication cables consist of, part numbers 300-7924 or 480-5264, 300-7925 and 309-5667.

The CG150 communication tool/cables are required for the ECU recovery procedure and best experience when flashing software to machine controllers.

Note: CG-150-2 (480-5264) can only be used with P1STC version 150326 and up.

An “application type” password is required for the recovery procedure. The application types are provided in the machine Troubleshooting Testing and Adjusting for the Machine Electronic Control System manual “recovery instructions”, Service Magazines and/or Special Instructions for the machine software updates.

We recommend searching service magazines and special instructions for the machine being serviced to obtain the latest machine controller flash file information.

P1STC must be manually started/opened from the desktop icon when using the optional CG150 communication cables.
